NATURALIST ON HORSEBACK

FULL DAY and OVERNIGHT RIDES
with NATURALIST,  LAURA AYERS

Explore giant redwoods and coastal mountain wilderness on well-trained AQHA horses. Ride through six biotic communities discussing the diverse flora, fauna, local and natural history. Improve riding skills and experience the Zen of riding by understanding the horse’s mind, language and the way your body communicates with him. Great food. Relax overnight or longer in the privacy of a remote comfortable camp.

As a naturalist, Laura also led Bay Area school children on hikes booked through Terwilliger Nature Education and the Fairfield Osborn Preserve which was created by her husband’s family on their former ranch and donated to Sonoma State University.  Native to these mountains, Laura also teaches riding-horsemanship, kayaking; and with husband Jonathan Ayers and their sons,  ran the Equine Program for 350 kids at Camp Newman-Santa Rosa. They train horses for their ARMSTRONG WOODS PACK STATION near Guerneville, 1 ½ hours north of San Francisco.

Well trained horses for all riding levels, beginners welcome. Rides include instruction and hourly rest stops. Full Day Rides for just advanced riders possible on weekdays off-season or in parties of at least four anytime.
