TRAIL RIDES

Come ride gentle horses through the towering old growth forest of Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve. The adjoining Austin Creek State Park is a wilderness of well-groomed trails exploring the Coastal Mountains of Sonoma County. Six different biotic communities with inspiring views and pristine streams await your discovery.

In private or group rides, beginner through advanced riders enjoy a streamside trail through the peaceful cathedral of giant redwoods. Climbing through woodlands and chaparral to warm mountaintop meadows, riders dismount to rest and enjoy spectacular sweeping vistas.

All rides are guided exclusively by the owners, Laura and Jonathan Ayers.  They always schedule extra time for a ridgetop rest or lunch stop, as well as riding instruction on quiet well-loved Quarter Horses they trained themselves.

HORSE HEAVEN LOOP TRAIL RIDE

FULL DAY RIDES:     Bring lunch, saddlebags provided. Four rider minimum during Summer.  Two rider minimum Off-Season.

McCray Mountain:  Ride through deep redwoods, conifers and wildflower meadows on the1800' ascent up McCray Mountain. A sweeping view over several counties is your reward. Sprawl upon the grassy crest and enjoy your picnic lunch.  Explore sunny chaparral and oak woodlands over our afternoon Gilliam Ridge loop.   Riding time: 3.5(the short cut!) to 5 hours.  10:30 am to 4 or 4:30 pm.

 Gilliam Creek:  More experienced and athletic riders can ride further during summer to hang hammocks, relax and lunch along the shady banks of Gilliam Creek. This stream tumbles over boulders, providing refreshing shallow pools.     9:30 to 4 or 5 pm. .

NATURALIST ON HORSEBACK

A Full Day Lunch Ride informally learning about the diverse flora, fauna, local and natural history of the six biotic communities traveled.

FULL DAY RIDE to an OVERNIGHT CAMP  with tents, beds, hot shower, and three great meals.   Six person minimum. $380
 

If group total is less than minimum required, riders must be willing to pay the difference.  Off-Season minimums decrease by two riders.

Catered Lunch Menu (changes upon request): Vegetable vinaigrette salad with optional marinated grilled chicken breast, antipasto, hearty bread with butter, cheese or hummus, and iced tea. Dessert of fresh fruit, cookies, and hot coffee.  $25 per person,  party of six only.

Trail Rides of any length may conclude at a comfortable tent camp with outdoor kitchen and hot shower. Cook your own food or be pampered with our fresh Country Cuisine and campfire tales. Prices based on amount of riding, service, meals, nights, and number of people in your party. OVERNIGHT TRAIL RIDES start at $380 per person, meals plus full day and optional return ride included.
